The Norwegian Polar Institute is constantly expanding our staff due to multiple tasks and an increased number of projects – especially in the research related to climate change. The department has approx. 160 employees in Tromsø (headquarters), Svalbard and Antarctica, a number that will continue to increase in the coming years.
The Norwegian Polar Institute is Norway's central institution for research, environmental management and monitoring, mapping and field work in polar regions. The Institute is a directorate under the Ministry of Environment and is a contact and service body for Norwegian and international polar research.
