The NPI seminars are open events – all are welcome!

Abstract

The Institute of Earth Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xi’an Jiaotong University have jointly created an Accelerator Mass Spectrometer (AMS) centre based on a 3 MV multi-element accelerator mass spectrometer. The main focus of the Xi’an AMS centre will be paleoclimatological and paleoenvironmental studies as well as archaeological research. The seminar will describe the capabilities of the Xi’an AMS centre including final acceptance tests for Carbon-14, Berylium-10 etc as well as the use of AMS in studies of multi-proxy records of paleoclimate variations over the past 25ka in China and the investigation of the 4000-year-old «Longshan giant» skeleton discovered in Shaanxi Province, China.
