Transfer of organic pollutants from the abiotic environment to the lowest trophic levels of the ice associated food chain.

Detect levels of organic contaminants in the abiotic marine environment (sea water, sea ice and snow) in the marginal ice zone in the Barents Sea and north of Svalbard.
Calculate bioconcentration factors from these sources to the lowest trophic levels of the marine food chain in the areas investigated.
The first part of the field program will take place during the MARINØK programme field sampling (Norwegian Polarinstitute, 29/4 - 26/5-99) and the second field sampling program in conjuction with the UNIS expedition in mid September - beginnig of October (UNIS).
