Nessar

The overall goal of NESSAR is to quantify the impact of climate variability on the structure and function of Arctic marine ecosystems of the Nordic and Barents seas in order to predict the ecosystem response to possible future climate change, with particular focus on the Arctic Front.

NPI team under the leadership V.K. Pavlov will contribute to NESSAR by analysis and detailed description of the general physical structure of the front in the Nordic seas, including its location, hydrographic properties, sea ice and water thermodynamics. 

We will provide information of both long-term variability of the physical processes based on analysis historical records and small scale variations of the Arctic Front parameters using results of future IMR and NPI research cruises.
