Ecological studies of white whales (Delphinapterus leucas) in Svalbard

The principal objective of this program is to extend our knowledge regarding the ecology and population biology of white whales in Svalbard, Norway. The following sub-goals are components of the programme:
·Diet analyses of white whales from Svalbard - assessed through fatty-acid profiling
·White whale movements around the Svalbard Archipelago - assessed through satellite telemetry
·PCB and organochlorine burdens in Svalbard white whales
·Genetic analyses of population sub-structure of white whales in the North Atlantic
·Diving behaviour of white whales summering in Svalbard
·Acoustic behaviour of white whales in Svalbard
